We either have the stupefying ancient caves and temples in the subconscious world of our minds or the British architecture immediately around us and the Mughals made sure we inherited their forts,fortresses, Urdu and cuisine. Perhaps, we are still learning about history – excavating, archiving and somewhat beginning to understand it.
This kind of dichotomy makes for the perfect soup for an enriching discussion. The event was titled – ‘Ayn Rand and her manifesto’ and there were participants who could talk of Ayn Rand like the crickets sing about rains and there were participants who came to propel themselves into the Randian space. There were also people who had just started to taste the flavors of an Objectivist world.
I did have the chance to have a regular job. Even my friends wanted to get me a better job. But I chose to have a bookstore because in the three years I spent working at a bookstore, I learnt that I enjoyed my conversations with my customers who came to buy books. So apart from my own passion for reading, I found something which I enjoyed doing. That’s how the Bookworm began.
